Pensioners living in other country than the one they draw their pension in Pensioners living in other country than the one they draw their pension in are entitled to receive the full health care in the country of their residence on the account of the institution of the national health insurance of the country they draw their pension in. The national health insurance institution in the country of their resindence becomes the connecting point to settle the health care costs (it there are more health insurance institutions, you can freely choose). The condition is though that the pensioner is not allowed to draw also a pension in the country of his/her residence together with the pension from abroad. It would mean the juristiction of the country of his/her residence and he/she would be also insured here. Example A: A pensioner who had lived and worked his whole life in the territory of Great Britain decided to live in the Czech Republic. In spite of it he belongs to the jurisdiction of Great Britain and he is insured in GB. He is entitled to receive full health care in the territory of the Czech Republic the same like all Czech insured people, with the difference only that the costs connected with the health care are paid from the British national health insurance system. The health insurance company chosen by the pensioner – he must be registered with - serves as the assistant when intermediating the settlement between the British health insurance company and the Czech doctor. When visiting Great Britain or any other EU or EEA country (Norway, Liechtenstein, Island) the pensioner is entitled to receive the necessary health care. To be able to set up his claim of full health care in the Czech Republic, he must ask his competent institution, i.e. his health insurance company, to draw the E121 form which proves his data for the registration with a Czech health insurance company. Example B: A pensioner had worked in Great Britain and in the Czech Republic during his life. He receives the Czech as well as British pension. He lives in GB and he has his health insurance here too. He decided to move to the Czech Republic and to live there. Because he receives the pension in both countries, his residence decides about the jurisdiction and about the country competent for health insurance too and this is the Czech Republic. He becomes a Czech insured this way.
